It boils down to two different dynamics of getting an album on the shelves; the creativity versus business. GUITARZAN PRODUCTION typically handles the production and mastering of an artist's performance (what you hear), while the label HOT NEW ENTERTAINMENT handles the distribution, which is the cost of recording the CD and making it, and getting it on the shelves (what you buy). This process has been undercut by the advent of digital downloads, both legal and not (think iTunes and Amazon). While the record companies hate the fact that albums can be downloaded cheaper or even free, this new era gives new opportunities to the smaller, more talented production companies that are actually trying to make good music. Think about all the ads you see saying digital downloads are evil. Who do you think paid for those? The same goes for videos as well.
